Outdoor Adventure Programs

Our commitment to fostering personal growth through SCUBA diving extends beyond certification alone. Each course is meticulously crafted to provide participants with valuable skills, promote mental resilience, and enhance overall well-being. As divers progress from the introductory "Try SCUBA" experience to advanced levels, they engage in immersive training that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and self-discovery.

In addition to our role as a NAUI VA Testing Site, we also prioritize community support through our donation program. By supplying gear to military members and their dependents pursuing certifications under the GI Bill®, we aim to alleviate financial burdens and encourage participation in this transformative journey.

At Helping 2 Overcome, we understand the profound impact of diving not only as a sport but as a therapeutic outlet. Our instructors, who are both highly trained and passionate about the underwater world, provide invaluable guidance and mentorship. Participants can expect a supportive environment where they are encouraged to push their limits and embrace new challenges.

As we continue to develop enriching programs, our goal remains clear: to empower individuals through the life-changing experiences that SCUBA diving offers. Joining our community opens the door to not only learning to dive but also to forging lasting connections and memories that inspire personal growth far beyond the water's edge. We invite you to explore the depths with us, transforming challenges into unforgettable adventures.

Whether you are new to hiking or an experienced outdoor enthusiast, our program offers something for everyone. Participants will have the opportunity to explore diverse landscapes, all while benefiting from the therapeutic effects of nature.

Safety is our top priority, so all hikes are led by experienced guides who are well-versed in the local terrain. We ensure that each trek is designed to meet the skill levels of the group while promoting camaraderie and teamwork.

In addition to physical benefits, hiking provides a unique chance for personal reflection and mental rejuvenation. Join us to experience the beauty of the great outdoors and discover how nature can play a vital role in your overall well-being.

The Helping 2 Overcome Kayaking & Canoeing Program is a wonderful initiative specifically designed for veterans, military families, and military members seeking healing through nature. This friendly program recognizes the unique challenges that these individuals face and offers a supportive environment where they can reconnect with the natural world. By engaging in recreational therapy, participants can experience both physical and emotional healing, allowing them to process their experiences in a reflective and therapeutic setting.

Kayaking and canoeing provide an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in serene landscapes, such as estuaries that teem with life. These gentle waterways not only foster relaxation but also encourage camaraderie among participants, creating strong bonds that can aid in emotional recovery. As they paddle together, veterans and families share stories, laughter, and support, transforming the act of navigating the water into a meaningful shared experience. This program truly highlights the power of nature and its ability to heal, reinforcing the idea that the journey towards recovery can be both enjoyable and rewarding.

Moreover, the benefits of this program extend beyond the physical activity of kayaking and canoeing. The soothing sounds of water lapping against the boats, the fresh scent of the outdoors, and the striking views of the estuary create a perfect backdrop for reflection and mindfulness. Participants often leave the program not only feeling more connected to nature but also with renewed spirits and a sense of purpose. Therefore, the Helping 2 Overcome program serves as a vital resource for our military community, demonstrating how recreation therapy can facilitate healing in a unique and holistic manner.

The Helping 2 Overcome Golf Program is a heartfelt initiative designed specifically for veterans, military families, and active military members. At its core, this program aims to blend the joys of recreation therapy with the therapeutic benefits of golf. Golf isn’t just a sport; it offers a unique opportunity for healing and connection, allowing participants to engage with nature, foster camaraderie, and share experiences in a supportive environment.

Through a series of well-organized clinics, the program introduces participants to the fundamentals of golf, regardless of their skill level. These clinics are not just about learning how to swing clubs; they create an atmosphere of encouragement and support, essential for those who have faced the challenges associated with military life. The camaraderie built on the greens fosters friendships that might last beyond the course, enabling veterans and military families to share their stories and build a sense of community.

Additionally, the Helping 2 Overcome Golf Program offers structured rounds of golf, allowing participants to put their skills into practice in a friendly yet competitive environment. These rounds serve as both a recreational outlet and a therapeutic experience, enhancing well-being and promoting a sense of accomplishment. Through this initiative, participants are reminded that they are not alone; they are surrounded by individuals who understand their journey, making each golf outing a step toward improved mental health and social rejuvenation. Overall, this program exemplifies how recreational activities can play a pivotal role in the healing process, helping those who have bravely served our country to thrive.

The Helping 2 Overcome Fishing Program is a unique initiative designed to support military families and members through the therapeutic joys of fishing. This program recognizes the challenges faced by those in the military, offering a gentle escape from the demands of everyday life. By engaging in recreational therapy, participants can find healing not only through the tranquility of nature but also through shared experiences with others who understand their journeys.

One of the program's highlights is its focus on both deep sea and freshwater fishing. Whether it’s the thrill of reeling in a big catch in the open ocean or the serene environment of a quiet lake, each experience is crafted to foster relaxation and camaraderie. Participants are guided by experienced captains who not only teach the skills of fishing but also emphasize the mental health benefits that come from spending time outdoors. This combination of learning and leisure helps build confidence and strengthens family bonds, providing a perfect setting for military families to create lasting memories together.

Transitioning from the hustle and bustle of military life to the calming vibes of fishing can truly be transformative. Participants often share how the program helps them release stress and promotes positive communication within families. As individuals cast their lines and wait patiently for a bite, they also embrace the opportunity to connect with nature and with each other. Ultimately, the Helping 2 Overcome Fishing Program serves as a reminder that healing can occur in many forms, and sometimes, all it takes is a beautiful day spent by the water to rekindle joy and hope.

The Helping 2 Overcome Sky Diving Program is an innovative initiative designed specifically for beginners, particularly focusing on military members and their families. This program recognizes the unique challenges faced by those who have served in the armed forces, including mental health struggles and the transition back to civilian life. By incorporating tandem sky diving experiences, the program not only provides an exhilarating opportunity but also acts as a therapeutic outlet for participants seeking recreational healing.

Sky diving, often viewed as a thrilling adventure, also has potential therapeutic benefits that can contribute significantly to mental wellness. As participants embark on tandem dives with experienced instructors, they are placed in a supportive environment that fosters trust and camaraderie. This shared experience can help to alleviate feelings of isolation and anxiety, particularly prevalent among military families. The act of overcoming the fears associated with jumping from an aircraft serves as a powerful metaphor for tackling life's challenges, empowering individuals to confront their own apprehensions head-on.

This program emphasizes the importance of community and connection. By bringing together military members and their families in a shared pursuit of healing, the program creates a sense of belonging that is often elusive for those in transition. Participants emerge not only with thrilling memories but also with new friendships and support networks that extend beyond the jump. In this way, the program not only promotes recreational healing through the adrenaline of sky diving but also cultivates a holistic approach to mental health, reaffirming the notion that overcoming personal barriers can lead to profound personal growth and resilience.
